Role Purpose
As a Support Worker, you will play a key role in the day-to-day care and support of children and young people aged 11-17, many of whom may have experienced trauma, neglect, or challenging life circumstances. You will support them to build confidence, develop life skills, and achieve their full potential in a safe and caring environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Care and Support:
1. Provide a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for children and young people.
2. Support the physical, emotional, and social well-being of each child, ensuring their individual needs are met.
3. Help young people develop independence and life skills, such as cooking, cleaning, and budgeting.
4. Assist in creating and implementing care plans, risk assessments, and behavior management strategies.
2. Relationship Building:
1. Develop trusting and positive relationships with children, young people, and their families.
2. Act as a positive role model and provide consistent care and guidance.
3. Safeguarding:
1. Monitor and report any safeguarding concerns in line with organizational policies and procedures.
2. Ensure all interactions prioritize the safety and welfare of the young people.
4. Team Collaboration:
1. Work collaboratively with colleagues, external professionals, and other stakeholders to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people.
2. Attend and contribute to team meetings, supervisions, and training sessions.
5. Record Keeping:
1. Maintain accurate records of daily activities, incidents, and progress for each child.
2. Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Person Specification
Essential
1. A genuine passion for working with children and young people.
2. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and listening skills.
3. Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins as required.
4. Resilience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
5. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
6. Basic IT skills for record-keeping and reporting.
Desirable
1. Experience working in a children’s residential or similar setting.
2. Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People or equivalent (or willingness to work towards this).
3. Knowledge of trauma-informed care and behavior management strategies.
4. A full UK driving license.

Pay: £23,500.00-£25,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 16 – 47.5 per week
