Hours: Fixed Term, Full-time, Monday - Friday, 37 hours per week.
Salary: £26,900 + On-call allowance of £1,200 per annum
Overview
Our vision is that every child and young person in the country has a safe and happy childhood.
To help us achieve this, the role will supervise the delivery of high-quality facilities management services for the School and Residential buildings, through the direct management of a maintenance team and contracted services to enable the safe provision of services for staff and service users.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage all on-site operational facilities at Headlands (or any replacement School), providing visible leadership through the delivery of a professional and focused service to all building occupants, ensuring the experience is consistent with our values and brand.
2. Line manage a team, including regular coaching, mentoring, and supervision, achieved through the application of Action for Children policies, procedures, and good practice to enable achievement of expected levels of performance.
3. Lead by example with the updating of local databases, including data entry and works orders modules, to provide transparency of progress to service users and compliance activities.
4. Order and maintain appropriate levels of maintenance supplies, ensuring all equipment, fixtures, and faults are fit for purpose in line with budget considerations and maximizing value for money.
5. Develop a team to ensure the building experience is welcoming, professional, and engaging, collaborating with management to ensure positive engagement with building users, external suppliers, and contractors.
6. Build effective working relationships with various stakeholders, especially AFC’s internal Property Services Department and managing contractors onsite, ensuring completion of required tasks and that the site is left safe and secure.
7. Enable the safe and effective evacuation of the premises in the event of an emergency, ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of building and service users at all times and arranging routine checks on all fire safety equipment.
8. Be on call to attend site for out-of-hours emergencies and be available to work weekends for contracted out-of-hours compliance works.
9. Maintain a healthy and safe working environment by ensuring that organizational Health and Safety Management requirements are met and recorded as necessary.
Qualifications and Training:
1. Hold, or be willing to undertake training for, First Aid at Work qualification and Fire Marshall certification.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
1. Previous experience of working on own initiative and taking responsibility for own work.
2. Experience of working in an innovative way.
3. Experience of planning, monitoring, and organizing, including reorganizing priorities when faced with uncertainties and new demands.
4. Experience of reporting and recording information both formally and informally.
5. Knowledge and awareness of buildings management procedures and policies.
6. Ability to effectively utilize allocated resources to avoid waste.
7. Ability to work with integrity, respect confidentiality, and maintain a customer-focused approach.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook packages (i.e., Word, Excel, etc.).
9. Ability to remain objective under pressure and resilience when faced with challenging situations.
10. Ability to lead and direct a team.
11. An understanding of diversity and its relevance to the post.
