We are currently seeking to recruit a Health and Safety Adviser to work within our Health and Safety Team. This post is one of three Safety Advisers providing a quality service to Falmouth Exeter Plus and its partner organisations, working in the higher education sector. Reporting into the Head of Health and Safety, this role involves working within a tight-knit, committed team of safety professionals that ensures compliance with H&S policies and UK legislation. This advisory role provides competent advice, guidance and support to managers and staff on statutory and legal requirements as well as best practice for general Health & Safety management, environmental protection and hazardous waste issues. It is an exciting and challenging role working across multiple campuses engaging with Students, and Staff across both Academic and Professional Services. Although a multi-faceted role with exposure to many elements within the health and safety remit, one of the key aspect's will be to review, update and implement internal health and safety policies, management plans, procedures and approved codes of practice with staff across Falmouth University, the University of Exeter and FX Plus, ensuring a collaborative, coordinated and consistent outcome. About You The successful candidate should be an astute experienced professional, committed to the development of Health & Safety services, continued improvement of H&S culture, have the ability to work alone or as part of a team and be enthusiastic to support and motivate others. Excellent communication skills are essential together with a high level of IT proficiency. Experience working in Health & Safety within a large organisation with a broad risk profile is essential, together with a strong technical knowledge across relevant health and safety legislation. The post holder should have experience in the development and implementation of H&S Policies and procedures, risk assessments, monitoring, inspection, auditing and incident and accident investigation. The successful candidate will also be required to undertake training needs analysis and deliver training packages to support the business needs. The ideal candidate would have the following skills and experience: An interest in and understanding of health and safety and a willingness to promote best practice and cultural change. Broad technical knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and best practice. A good understanding of CDM, construction type activities and project management. Experience undertaking H&S Audits and Inspections. Ability to transmit and write reports. Experience in delivering Health and Safety Training. Knowledge of ISO45001 / ISO9001 / ISO14001. The post holder must hold the minimum of a NEBOSH general certificate, be a member of a recognised Health & Safety Body and be prepared to study for and obtain a NEBOSH diploma or an NVQ equivalent (level 5/6).
