Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Senior Buyer to lead and optimize our Supply Chain function. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring accuracy and efficiency within the Supply Chain team, negotiating competitive pricing and service levels with suppliers, and maintaining material availability to support a seamless manufacturing process. You will work closely with other departments, utilizing both Avante and M3 ERP systems, to ensure high-level customer service while preventing excessive inventory buildup.
Main duties and responsibilities
1. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to meet operational needs and ensure reliable supply chains.
2. Negotiate supplier agreements, including pricing and lead times, to support business requirements.
3. Regularly update and manage pricing in Avante and M3 ERP systems, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
4. Oversee and manage the MRP system, ensuring all customer demands are met efficiently.
5. Collaborate closely with the Customer Service (CS) team to maintain open communication with customers and provide exceptional service.
6. Set and monitor supply chain KPIs, providing reports as needed to track performance.
7. Partner with the Stores team to manage inventory levels, ensuring optimal stock availability for business needs.
8. Work alongside the engineering team to support new product development and ensure the smooth integration of new parts.
9. Maintain and review pricing agreements with current suppliers, ensuring competitive and consistent terms.
10. Lead and manage supply chain projects, driving improvements and ensuring timely delivery of objectives.
11. Identify high-risk bought-in parts and proactively seek alternative suppliers to mitigate potential disruptions.
12. Coordinate the collection of yearly spend data for reporting and analysis purposes.
13. Support the Supply Chain and Logistics Manager in identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and driving efficiency across the supply chain.
About You

Essential Experience & Qualifications
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a purchasing role, with a strong track record in procurement.
2. In-depth knowledge and practical experience with MRP/ERP systems, ensuring efficient supply chain management.
3. Proven ability to perform well under pressure in fast-paced environments, meeting deadlines and targets.
4. Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
5. A minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent qualifications.
6. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
7. Fluent in English, speaking and written.
Desirable Experience & Qualifications
1. Purchasing Experience: A minimum of 5 years of previous experience in a Purchasing role within a Manufacturing or Construction organization, providing valuable insight into industry-specific procurement processes.
2. CIPS Qualification: CIPS qualified or currently studying towards a CIPS qualification, demonstrating a commitment to professional development and a deep understanding of procurement best practices.
3. Educational Background: A degree-level qualification, ideally in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field, is desirable.
