We’re looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our growing team. The role will primarily support business operations, looking to identify improvements that can be made throughout the organisation from an IT perspective.
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will lead a small team based at one of our subsidiary companies in the South of England, Surrey. This team will include 1st and 2nd line support technicians and also Engineers. This role will act as the vital liaison point between the IT Team based in Leeds and the team based in Surrey, to support cross collaboration. Your position is based in Leeds with occasional travel to Surrey.
The successful candidate will ensure that all IT policies and procedures are maintained in line with PCI DSS and ITIL guidelines. This is an excellent opportunity to proactively review and evaluate new technologies for both current and future business needs.
Responsibilities:
1. Providing people management of a small remote team
2. Capacity planning
3. Resolving 3rd line support issues for key business systems
4. Proactively managing the IT infrastructure to ensure maximum system uptime
5. Developing and maintaining IT procedural/process documentation in line with PCI DSS and ITIL requirements
6. Maintaining a viable IT Business continuity and disaster recovery infrastructure as per business requirements
7. Mentoring junior support staff and assisting where necessary
8. Assisting in system capacity planning
9. Constantly reviewing the current IT infrastructure and proposing improvements
10. Installing, configuring, and maintaining key IT systems
11. Building and maintaining a secure network
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
1. Track record in delivering IT Infrastructure projects across a range of technologies
2. Ability to operate independently and take accountability for the delivery of major initiatives
3. Operating software knowledge:
* Windows Server 2008/2012 Administration
* Active Directory
* Remote Desktop Services
* Exchange Server 2010
* Backup Technologies
* Vmware and SAN Technologies
* Windows 7 Administration
* HP
* Cisco
* IP, ADSL and MPLS networks, Cisco VPN configuration, firewalls, routing, VLAN configuration, Cat 5 patching, capacity planning, teaming and route aggregation

* First line support, fault monitoring, LAN extension, ISDN30
1. Security - Desirable:
* Understanding of security technologies with a view to utilizing those technologies to support regulatory compliance i.e. PCI/ISO. Websense, Mimecast, Pen Testing, Sophos.
