ONLY INTERNAL EMPLOYEES OF NHS LOTHIAN WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POST
NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
We will fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.
The use of the term “Senior” or “Junior” in this post refers only to the level of experience and responsibility required for this post rather than age. As such, applications from people of all ages are welcomed, subject to meeting the relevant criteria.
We are delighted to invite applications for this opportunity to work within the Edinburgh Psychological Therapies Service. We are looking for enthusiastic and committed Senior Psychologists to support the further development of psychological services.
You will have a varied individual clinical caseload across the spectrum of psychological and mental health difficulties and be supported via individual and group supervision by the Senior Psychologists in each service. You will also be providing supervision and line management to a number of staff within the service. Eligibility to supervise trainees/newly qualified practitioners is desirable. As the service develops, there is an ongoing need to support work around continued reduction of wait times, and you will have a key role in this. However, in this context there is also an increased opportunity for training and development with a whole service CPD plan, as well as involvement in service developments driven by strategic change. This includes the development of treatment pathways for a population with complex needs.
In order to support a young and developing service, management are committed to investing in relevant training and career development opportunities. We are also keen to promote the development of areas of special interest and team champions in a number of areas.
This role forms part of a wider service development to support the expansion of senior posts and whilst embedded in the Edinburgh team, you will have support links with other senior posts developing across the wider AMH services. There are also a wide range of mental health services within the Edinburgh HSCP with which the Psychological Therapies Service have strong links.
The department is supported by Royal Edinburgh Associated Services (REAS), and there are reporting lines to the Services Director of Royal Edinburgh Associated Services (REAS), however all posts are managed within Psychological Therapies. This is led by the Director of Psychology with a team of senior staff who are committed to supporting and developing staff alongside quality improvement and other programmes that enhance the quality of care provided.
The main base for these posts is the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, Morningside, Edinburgh. However Psychological Therapies Teams are currently supporting hybrid working for both clinical and administrative work so flexibility of working location can be discussed at interview.
