Manufacturing Team Leader – Specialist Engineering Client – £36k - £42k per annum We are currently recruiting for a skilled and experienced Manufacturing Team Leader to join a leading engineering company. If you have a strong background in engineering workshops, metalwork, and are passionate about leading teams to achieve business goals, this could be the perfect role for you. In this key position, you will be responsible for managing and motivating a team to meet targets while ensuring a positive, respectful working environment. As the Manufacturing Team Leader, you will oversee a team of around 8 individuals, including Manufacturing Operators and CNC Programmer Operators, driving performance and ensuring efficient completion of work to the highest standards. Key Responsibilities: Lead by example, demonstrating strong leadership and company values. Effectively communicate team goals and align the team with business objectives, helping to enhance the department’s reputation. Oversee the recruitment process and manage the induction of new team members to ensure a smooth transition. Set clear, measurable objectives for the team and individuals, tracking performance and ensuring successful outcomes. Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and promptly address any performance or conduct issues with support from HR. Identify and promote opportunities for training and development. Manage team attendance, including sickness and annual leave, in line with company policies. Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team, encouraging innovation and ongoing enhancement of processes and performance. Establish, monitor, and achieve key performance indicators to meet business targets and project deadlines. Oversee production processes, including pressing, sheet metal fabrication, and CNC operations, ensuring work is completed to the highest quality standards and on schedule. Conduct project debriefs to identify lessons learned, assess successes, and improve processes for future projects. Manage materials throughout the production process, ensuring proper tracking, storage, and relocation of fabrication components, and maintaining control over scrap and offcuts. Collaborate with other departments to resolve any issues that may arise, ensuring that deadlines are met and projects are delivered on time. Liaise with the engineering team to ensure that all equipment is maintained according to Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) protocols and that all work adheres to ISO standards and company procedures. Ideal Candidate: We are seeking a proactive leader with the following experience and skills: Experience: Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within an engineering workshop environment. Experience in managing performance and conducting appraisals. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Familiarity with machine shop, press cell, and/or sheet metal processes. Background in manufacturing engineering. Desirable Experience: Experience with stock management, including booking in and out of parts. Knowledge of Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM). Familiarity with working to ISO standards
