The role
This role is for a Decommissioning Team Lead, reporting to the Head of Decommissioning, managing Decommissioning staff as it grows and expands in the three offices supporting a multitude of clients. You will work across the full life cycle of decommissioning projects, from Feasibility and Preliminary Design to Detailed Design and Construction/Commissioning phases. You will be responsible for people management within the Decommissioning team, including mentoring and coaching, staff appraisals, team personal development plans, identification of training and professional development needs, and recruitment.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
Team Lead Responsibilities
* People Management & Development.
* Conduct appraisals and oversee team development plans.
* Provide mentorship and coaching to support growth.
* Identify training and professional development needs
* Line Management.
* Oversee personnel across all levels, from Graduates to Managing Principals.
* Recruitment and Talent Acquisition.
* Identify and assess industry talent, reviewing CVs, conducting interviews, and serving on recruitment panels.
* Contribute to the annual recruitment plan and talent pipeline.
Decommissioning and Dismantling Engineer responsibilities
* Decommissioning Design and Engineering.
* Conduct optioneering and feasibility studies for decommissioning projects.
* Support decommissioning planning, developing multi-phase plans and flow. diagrams, and determining sequencing and scheduling.
* Gather and validate input data essential to decommissioning phases.
* Design dismantling and size reduction plans.
* Prepare method statements and design risk assessments.
* Project-Specific Studies and Planning.
* Develop post-operational clean-out (POCO) plans.
* Plan investigations and characterizations tailored to specific decommissioning tasks.
* Conduct bespoke studies to support project requirements.
* Documentation and Technical Support.
* Draft tender documents and provide technical responses for decommissioning work.
* Engage in the hazard identification process, including HAZOP and HAZID.
* The four core delivery areas in the decommissioning and dismantling team are:
* Dismantling and Demolition
* Retrievals
* Investigations and characterisations
* Post Operational Clean Out (POCO)
You will have the following qualifications and experience
* Proven experience delivering projects in the nuclear industry.
* Engineering/Science Degree in a relevant Discipline (Nuclear, D&D, Chemical, Process or Mechanical).
* Previous line management experience is preferred
* Experience of working on a Decommissioning project is required.
