MAIN OBJECTIVES Negotiate and co-ordinate the timely and cost effective supply of all materials, sub-assemblies and support services to the point of need ensuring company cost and performance targets are achieved. Promoting and maintaining close liaison with Planning, Sales, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance and Engineering disciplines to maximise procurement performance for the business. Working in association with Spellman Corporate and other sites to maximise the most effective material supply solutions. Managing and developing the team of buyers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to achieve cost savings while maintaining high standards. Responsible for a supplier portfolio and will be required to optimise the flow of products from various sources Develop and own appropriate departmental KPIs to ensure performance and improvement is measured and acted on Be driven to make cost savings across the business being able to source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, price, reliability and delivery speed. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance purchasing processes and performance. Develop and implement effective purchasing strategies for materials, supplies, and services. Manage and evaluate supplier performance, building strong relationships to ensure reliability, quality and support the departmental strategic goals Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Stores teams to ensure the timely availability of materials. Monitor and forecast demand levels to ensure continuous supply while minimising excess inventory. Lead, mentor and coach the purchasing team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Incurring the minimum costs in procurement and stockholding consistent with meeting the delivery and budget requirements of the sales / manufacturing order demand. Provide support and assistance to support the Company’s ISO14001 Environmental Management system. Responsibility for adhering to the Company’s ISO 9001 Quality, ISO14001 Environmental and Health and Safety management systems. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Ideally qualified to Degree level with significant experience at senior level in the purchasing and supply of materials within an electronics manufacturing environment. CIPS Level 6: Professional Diploma in Procurement and Supply required. A proven track record of leading teams (essential) at least 10 years in a management position. Excellent negotiation skills with a proven track record of securing favourable terms from suppliers. Abreast of current modern procurement techniques. Ability to communicate at all levels, exceptional interpersonal skills with a hands on approach. Ability to coach, identify training needs, and apply appropriate solutions to develop the team of Buyers. Ability to meet deadlines without compromising cost reductions. Experience of implementing lean processes. Highly proficient in the operation of ERP and MRP tools. High level of electronic component recognition skills. Strong understanding and commitment to environmental issues and skilled in “Supply chain Greening”. Strong understanding of logistics and supply chain management principles.
