The Acoustics team develops hearing protection, communication, noise reduction, and ultrasound devices and systems for a wide variety of military and commercial applications. The group also specializes in acoustic data acquisition and analysis, and works on an array of other acoustic applications including underwater acoustics, vibrational systems, and simulation and modeling.
Position Summary
Our Ocean Systems Group is seeking a signal processing engineer to be part of a multi-disciplinary team working on projects that span a wide range of research areas. The engineer will lead undersea acoustics projects for military and commercial applications. Innovation and problem solving will be a major part of your position along with the ability to work productively with a diverse team of researchers.
Responsibilities
* Self-starter with the ability to recognize and creatively solve complex problems
* Performing experiments in an independent & inventive manner
* Serve both as an individual contributor and lead a project team
* Take ownership of project success and maintain customer relationships
* Identify and manage project schedules and risks
* Support business development through proposal writing and the pursuit of strategic partnerships
* Document project progress
Desired Qualifications
Experience with some of the following:
* Processing underwater acoustic array data
* Acoustic multi-sensor fusion techniques
* Acoustic Blind Source Separation (BSS) techniques
* Phased-array processing and array design and performance analysis
* Acoustic testing, data acquisition, and data analysis
* Embedded DSP system design
* Anti-submarine Warfare (ASW) applications of acoustic signal processing
* Marine mammal monitoring and offshore wind applications of acoustic signal processing.
The ideal candidate will have broad interest in these areas and the desire to lead a team to develop and field a product in a chosen area. Excellent presentation and writing skills are a plus to accomplish this goal.
Education/Experience
* MS degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or closely related field. PhD degree is a plus (but not a requirement)
* 5+ years of experience with listed qualifications.
