Bartlemas Surgery is part of the City East Oxford PCN, based in the East Oxford Health Centre on the vibrant Cowley Road.
We are looking to cover 5 sessions from a newly CCT GP under the ARRS funding scheme, to provide for on-the-day access appointments.
This role could be well suited for someone that is able to work the session between morning and afternoon surgeries, so someone that may have school drop-off and collection duties.
We are a training practice with a strong focus on education and development, and look after medical undergraduates from Oxford University, Foundation Stage doctors and Specialist Trainee GPs. As a consequence, you will be well supported by the practice, with opportunities for case discussion and opinion sharing during the course of the session.
We encourage portfolio working amongst our staff, and a number of them hold roles in healthcare outside of the practice, which is supported by all who work in the practice. If this is something that you would like to do, let us know when applying for the position, which you can do by emailing our Practice Manager, Ivan, on bartlemas.admin@nhs.net, marked for his attention.
Main duties of the job
The role is to cover 5 sessions, one per day, with no GP list holding.
The role will provide on-the-day capacity, triaged by the Duty Doctor, and supported by the wider team of nurses, HCA and GPs, with input and support from pharmacists.
The post holder will carry out all the duties reasonably expected of an NHS general practitioner using the standards expected by the GMC and RCGP in line with appropriate national and/or local guidelines.
About us
Bartlemas Surgery is in the East Oxford Health Centre, off the Cowley road, with access to the vibrant Street culture and interesting diverse cuisine in the various eateries.
Staff turnover has always been really low, with a great sense of teamwork. Some comments from our current GPs about what it's like to work with us:
I have worked here for over 10 years. It is a very friendly, supportive team and I have always felt that my input and ideas are welcomed. We meet every day for coffee and can use this time to get advice from one another about patient care or just enjoy a catch up over coffee and cake. - Vic
I joined the Bartlemas team as a trainee over 5 years ago - everyone is open and supportive, so you never feel that you're on your own. Daily team coffee meetings are a real highlight, not to mention the delicious cakes and treats in the practice Bake-off competition! - Alastair
