Support Worker - Fostering

About the role:
Are you passionate about working with children and understanding the impact of trauma on children’s development? Can you quickly establish relationships with children and their foster families, so you can support them in their day-to-day
lives? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Fostering Support Worker based in the Mainstream Fostering Team. We are a well-established supportive team, who work with Foster Carers and Family and Friends Carers across Powys. The role will involve working directly with children, young people, foster carers
and their families providing a range of support which promotes their wellbeing and supports their journey through care.
This role can be both challenging and rewarding in equal measures and at times will require you to be flexible with your working hours.
About you:
This post requires you to be motivated, resilient and passionate about supporting children and young people. You will be personable, enthusiastic, and energetic allowing you to build rapport quickly and focus on engaging with the child/ren.
Experience and/or knowledge of child development and an interest understanding the impact of trauma on a child’s development.
Be able to use your own initiative.
Have a valid driving licence and access to a car
Ability to work as part of a professional network (including foster carers, social workers, and schools) to advocate for the families’ wishes and feelings
Excellent communication skills at all levels but in particular with children
Be willing to engage in learning and development to support your role as a Fostering Support Worker
