Counselling Psychologist (Gender Dysphoria/Diversity) or Clinical Psychologist (Gender Dysphoria/Diversity) or Forensic Psychologist (Gender Dysphoria/Diversity)
To provide specialist psychological assessments of allocated clients. Assessments will be based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with patients, family members, nursing staff and others involved in the patient's care. Practitioner psychology assessments will, at times, need to be conducted using interpreters.
To formulate plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of client's presenting issues or mental health problems based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client's situation, and to employ methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.
To exercise responsibility for the treatment of and discharge of clients whose presenting issue is managed through the medium of a psychologically based standard care plan which ensures appropriate assessment, formulation, and interventions. This will involve communicating with the referral agent and others involved with the care on a regular basis.
Main duties of the job
1. To be responsible for providing an assessment and psychological service within the context of a strong multi-disciplinary ethos.
2. To demonstrate specialist knowledge in the clinical specialism of gender incongruence or diversity underpinned by current evidence-based practice.
3. To demonstrate understanding of intersectionality, including ethnicity and sexuality.
4. To reflect on own clinical practice and provide evidence of specialist clinical judgement.
5. To produce specialist clinical decisions following assessment of cases and to prepare case notes and reports reflecting the specialist expertise appropriate to this post in the clinical specialism of gender incongruence or diversity.

The Gender Identity Clinic (GIC) is the longest established clinic of its kind in the world and consists of a large multidisciplinary team, with whom the post holder will work. It accepts referrals from primary or secondary care of people of 17 years (seen at age 18) and older who are gender diverse or dysphoric. Available treatments include specialist assessment and diagnosis of gender dysphoria or gender incongruence, and may include psychological therapies, speech & language therapy, endocrinology, referral for hair removal, referral for surgical procedures and aftercare. Qualifications
Essential
* Doctorate qualification in Counselling Psychology or Clinical Psychology or forensic psychology and statutory registration with the Health and Care Professions Council with entitlement to use the title Counselling Psychologist or Clinical Psychologist or Forensic Psychologist.
Desirable
* Doctoral thesis or other substantial work written on matters pertaining to gender dysphoria/diversity.
* Evidence of personal and specialist professional development with achieved outcomes in the clinical specialism of gender dysphoria/diversity.
* Registration on the British Psychological Society's Gender Diversity Specialist Register (GDSR); and Royal College of Physicians GIH Certificates.
