Job summary Cross site : University Hospitals of Derby and Burton (UHDB) Are you looking for an opportunity to work within Occupational Therapy in a varied setting? Are you an enthusiastic individual who likes to work within a team and help care for our patients? An opportunity has arisen to join a supportive and forward thinking Occupational Therapy team across UHDB who are passionate about the evolving role of the Occupational Therapist. You will have 6 monthly rotations (some 1 year) that cover all the core areas experience in Surgery, Specialist Medicine, Cancer, Elderly Medicine, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Neurology experience (including Acute, longer term Stroke care and Head injuries) and Outpatient experience (including Hands, Splints, Group Rehabilitation and Rheumatology). You will also be exposed to the community setting and have opportunities for rotation within community based rotations including; D2A bedded units, Intermediate Care and Social Services. With a move towards seven day working the post holders will be required to work weekends. As some of the rotations are based in the community candidates will need to be able to drive and have access to their own car. We will support applications from 3rd year students and also return to practise candidate's. PREVIOUS APPLICANTS NEED NOT APPLY Main duties of the job This post will work across our hospital sites in Derby, Burton, Lichfield and Tamworth and will offer exciting rotational opportunities to support with development of core Occupational Therapy skills and career progression. You will be required to contribute to a 7 day extended hour service. You need to hold a full clean driving licence to be able to move between sites if required. The OT profession has a strong preceptorship programme at UHDB to support your transition from student to Band 5. You will expect to provided with a designated supervisor who will guide, mentor, challenge and encourage your through your rotation.
