The Meadowbrook School of Weston, a pre-kindergarten through 8th grade school located in Weston, MA, seven miles west of Boston, is seeking a Facilities Technician to join our faculty. Meadowbrook is a mission-driven school and we invite candidates to familiarize themselves with our mission before applying for the position. This position’s shift will be from 1pm - 9pm Monday through Friday, with some overtime/weekend work possible. It is a full-time, non-exempt position.
Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Facilities Technician will be an integral member of the facilities team. Given the working hours (1pm - 9pm), this shift will overlap with the end of the school day and continue through our after school programs into the evening, when we often have renters on campus. In addition to routine maintenance activities, you will act as the main point of contact for renters including greeting them when they arrive on campus, ensuring they have access to the spaces they are renting, fielding any questions they may have and ensuring that spaces are cleared and buildings/parking is secured each night before leaving. Meadowbrook is a fast-paced, dynamic environment where no two days are the same. Successful candidates will be personable and have the ability to connect with various groups of people including our faculty, students, and renters. You must also be able to work independently with little supervision and exercise sound judgment.

Responsibilities:
Maintenance:
1. All routine maintenance tasks related to the operation of buildings and grounds on campus.
2. Perform general maintenance work as required/requested. Perform basic plumbing, electrical, painting, masonry, carpentry and other trades-related tasks.
3. Follow all applicable safety rules and facilities procedures.
4. Perform preventive maintenance as needed.
5. Assist maintenance with snow removal and grounds maintenance including sports fields.
6. Upkeep school exterior including sweeping, trash and recycling collection.
7. Keep storage rooms organized.
8. Receive and unload deliveries.
9. Set up and break down for special events, rentals and assemblies.
Campus Security:
1. Act as point of contact for all facilities rentals including greeting renters/vendors, assisting with any questions/requests for information, ensuring buildings and grounds are cleaned and secured after the rental ends.
2. Assist with set-up/take down and/or monitoring of afternoon sports games.
3. Monitor parking and campus traffic.
4. Control access to campus and ensure all doors/windows are locked after hours.
5. Patrol grounds, buildings, parking areas while on duty and investigate/report any suspicious or dangerous activity.
Qualifications/Personal Attributes:
1. High School Diploma or GED required.
2. Two or more years of maintenance experience is preferred.
3. Driver's license required.
4. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise sound judgment.
5. Work effectively under pressure in meeting urgent deadlines in a service-oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities.
6. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing with courtesy and professionalism.
7. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, contractors and guests.
8. Maintain a cell phone and school email, be available for emergency call ins when possible, be available for planned “on call” nights and weekends.
9. Punctual, keep required work schedules, and follow work rules.
10. Open, flexible, and adaptable to new challenges and tasks as they come up.
11. Treat others with respect, regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, background, or ability.
12. Act with honesty and integrity at all times.
13. Good organizational and communication skills.
14. Must be or become certified in First Aid and CPR.
15. Physically able to safely perform the various tasks required in accordance with OSHA regulations.

17. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, sit or stand for prolonged periods, climb stairs and ladders.
