Commercial Engineer Manager
Can be based remotely in France, UK or Benelux
Salary range to 70k euro / £60k

What is the purpose of the role?
The Commercial Engineer Manager oversees a team of application engineers and commercial engineers and leads in our rapidly growing Assets Service Business.
You will be joining a fast-growing activity within Veolia, offering high potential for growth in the coming years. If you are excited about the opportunity to contribute to a rapidly expanding area of the business, this would be a perfect role for you!
On a day-to-day basis, you will manage a team of 6 design & proposal engineers, ensuring timely and successful proposal delivery. You’ll take responsibility for designing water treatment processes, building design flowsheets primarily from existing fleet assets, proposals and other customer-facing documentation. The role also calls for cost modeling and financial deal analysis, and developing creative value propositions to differentiate our offerings from competitors.
The team is part of a wide range of projects and assignments, encompassing emergency situations, routine tasks, and complex projects based on multiple technologies. Our solutions include Filtration, Ultrafiltration, Reverse Osmosis, Electrodeionization, Ion Exchange, and more. Additionally, we specialise in designing and proposing long-term contractual arrangements with Veolia-owned water treatment plants based on mobile / containerised units.

We can break the role down into 3 key areas:
Application Engineering / Commercial Engineering:
1. Design and optimize processes for emergency or bridge water solutions, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
2. Identify and allocate appropriate fleet resources to meet project requirements.
3. Conduct thorough analyses and scope optimisations to ensure customer needs are satisfied
4. Develop detailed costing sheets, considering all relevant factors and ensuring profitability.
5. Identify and mitigate project risks, addressing issues promptly and effectively.
Transversal Collaboration:
6. Collaborate closely with sales managers to align on project requirements.
7. Coordinate with the service centers and regional service teams to ensure efficient resource allocation and project execution and approvals.
8. Maintain open communication and strong working relationships with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
9. Facilitate knowledge sharing and best practice adoption across the company.
Team Leadership:
10. Lead, motivate, and mentor a team of application engineers
11. Foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
12. Assign tasks, monitor progress, and provide guidance.
13. Conduct performance evaluations, identify training needs, and identify development opportunities.
14. Ensure adherence to project timelines, EHS, compliance, and quality standards.
15. Maintain a healthy, supportive team culture in alignment with Veolia values and ecological transformation goals
Qualifications
What background and skills will you likely have?
16. Bachelor's degree in Engineering
17. Solid experience in a water-related field, or equivalent experience
18. Project management and team leadership skills
19. Proven track record in managing complex projects from initiation to successful completion
20. Strong commercial acumen and experience in proposal writing, contract negotiations, and client engagement
21. Skilled at managing disruption and transformational shifts
22. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities
23. Proficiency in both French and English (written and spoken)
24. Proficient in project management software and tools
25. Willingness and ability to travel frequently within the UK and EU (~2-4 days per month)
