Process Engineer – Aerospace UK Location: Shildon, UK Placement s tart d ate: August 202 5 Application c losing d ate: 4 th November 202 4 Role Provide process support to Shildon Operations and Supply Chain. Deliver improvements to existing processes, introduce new or modified processes, minimise process losses and waste. Description An opportunity has arisen for a placement student to take on an incredibly exciting role working with our Shildon Process Engineering team. We are looking for someone who is ready to take on the challenge of supporting and managing projects that will focus on product and process improvements whilst upholding health and safety awareness in a high-volume laboratory and production environment. We are also looking for someone who is ready to take on the challenge of using their data analytical skills to support the introduction of key improvements. Key Responsibilities Implement process improvements to support Strategic Improvement Initiatives such as Right First Time and Material Efficiency Provide process support with batch issues, adjustments, quality hazards, rejects and complaints Support with laboratory testing and analysis to meet client requirements and business needs Demonstrate a flexible approach to and deputise for other team members where necessary Introduce new or modified processes and products Take full responsibility to ensure work is carried out in a safe manner to PPG EHS policies and procedures Introduce and modify process instructions, recipes, routings, costings, batch sizes etc Provide process support with new and existing equipment Full compliance with all company policies and procedures Knowledge, Skills and Competencies Needed Self-motivation and a drive to succeed Knowledge of health and safety in the workplace Good IT knowledge and skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, etc) Highly motivated excellent organisational skills, and a flexible approach as more than one project will be worked in parallel Good communication and interpersonal skills along with the ability to influence and motivate staff Able to follow PPG and departmental procedures Experience and Qualifications Studying for an undergraduate degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or equivalent (Crucial) Experience of leading improvement projects and problem solving (Desirable). Knowledge and/or experience in a laboratory testing environment (Desirable).
