THE ROLE
Management Accountant - Glasgow
As a Management Accountant within AAB's Hotel Accounting business, you will support the Financial Controller in producing monthly management accounts, balance sheets, and related reports for our hotel clients, adhering to controls and compliance and ensuring reporting is being maintained to a high standard.
To provide a high standard of service to your clients, we expect you to develop a strong understanding of their business, provide them with actionable insight and help drive efficiencies within the department. You must be able to demonstrate practical accounting skills, and be proactive in terms of client support and providing solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Full ownership of the monthly management accounting cycle for your hotel portfolio.
* Complete management accounting pack reviews of profit & loss and balance sheet, ensuring variances and areas of risk are identified and actioned appropriately.
* Prepare monthly/quarterly VAT returns and assist with VAT inspections as required.
* Review the work the Finance Assistant, providing coaching and development, and working to improve efficiency of daily processes.
* Overall responsibility for Bank Reconciliation and Accounts Payable controls, supporting the Finance Assistant with process improvements, and in reaching resolution for any outstanding issues.
* Preparation of year end audit files, and liaising with auditors during clients' external audits.
* Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and audit requirements by maintaining robust controls.
* Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, helping you and your team generate ideas to develop processes and controls.
* Dealing with ad hoc queries and requests from hotel and client teams.
* Assist the Financial Controllers in developing systems and process controls to provide a robust control environment which meets client needs
* Complete ad hoc accounting and project work as required.

Qualified
Qualified by experience, Desirable but not essential Qualified or working towards (ICAS/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent)
Minimum Level of Experience
Preferably hotel accounting experience with management accounting experience (ideally working on a client portfolio) Supervision experience desirable.
Skills Required
* Proactive self-starter with ability to problem solve.
* Organising and prioritising work to meet reporting deadlines.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* High level of IT literacy, including strong Excel skills.
* Accuracy and attention to detail.
* Experience of Business Central highly desirable.
* Hotel knowledge would be advantageous.
