A well-known organisation based in Wells is actively seeking to appoint a Finance Officer to support day-to-day financial operations and be a key contact for budget holders, supporting and guiding them through their financial responsibilities.
Your new role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for:
1. Oversee shared mailboxes and Finance Team Voicemails as required.
2. Create or update balance sheet reconciliations for allocated nominal accounts.
3. Raise and post DBF sales invoices, credit notes, and journals as necessary.
4. Assist with annual distribution of confirmation and thanks of payment.
5. Prepare payment schedules.
6. Process bank transactions and reconcile.
7. Raise and issue sales invoices and monitor outstanding debtors.
8. Prepare and produce quarterly management accounts.
9. Reconcile VAT and submit to HMRC on a quarterly basis.
What you'll need to succeed
Essential:
1. Accounting qualification or studying towards one or qualified by experience.
2. Knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and reconciliation to bank statements.
3. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook.
4. Experience of using accounting software and ability to learn new ones.
5. Experience of working across teams.
6. Strong interpersonal, communication skills, and presenting of information skills.
7. Able to build relationships; good listening skills.
8. An appreciation of, and a commitment to, excellent customer service.
9. Able to summarise financial issues for non-finance staff.
10. Able to work to deadlines and respond quickly.
11. Good organisation skills; takes ownership of own work.
