SEN Teaching Assistant - Help Shape Young Lives!
Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire
Salary: £11.72 - £12.78 per hour (Actual salary: £19,370.70 - £21,122.66, depending on experience) ...
Hours: 37 hours per week - Term Time Only
Are you passionate about making a difference for young people with special educational needs? We're seeking dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to support students aged 11-19 with complex needs, including autism, learning disabilities, and communication challenges. Key Responsibilities:
Support Learning:
Work with teachers to develop a supportive and engaging learning environment for students.
Tailored Assistance:
Provide personalised one-to-one or small group support, addressing each student's unique sensory and communication needs.
Build Positive Relationships:
Establish trusting connections with students, ensuring they feel safe, valued, and included.
Encourage Positive Behaviour:
Use creative techniques to promote positive behaviour, adapting to individual student needs.
Assist with Personal Care:
Support students with personal care tasks as needed, while maintaining dignity and respect at all times.
What We're Looking For:
1. Experience working with SEN students (paid or voluntary).
2. A Level 2 or higher qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (preferred but not essential).
3. GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade C/Level 2 or above) - essential.
4. Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices.
5. A flexible, creative approach to supporting individual learning needs.
