Job overview
Pennine Inpatient Services are seeking a forward thinking Modern Matron specifically to support our acute inpatient mental health unit at Woodview, Whalley. Our unit consists of a Male acute inpatient ward, Female inpatient acute ward and a Male Psychiatric intensive Care Unit (PICU). This is an exciting opportunity and the successful candidate will be part of a relatively new and evolving service that has the needs of our service users at its heart.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic to have enhanced and proven leadership skills to provide and support the delivery of high quality nursing care from admission to discharge. Working within the framework of the Modern Matron principles, your key role will be to ensure clinical quality standards are achieved consistently by providing inspirational and visible clinical leadership to ward managers and the wider teams.
Main duties of the job
You must have excellent communication skills, and a good working knowledge and understanding of adult mental health and the needs of individuals in this group. You will promote and maintain high standards of care whilst supporting and assisting to implement local and national strategies and initiatives. You will need to possess excellent interpersonal skills, have leadership and staff development skills. A strong commitment to your ongoing professional education and development is essential.
The successful post holder will be expected to be able to rotate across the specialty areas and be able to work shifts covering 24 hours, seven days a week.

Qualifications
* Registered Mental Health Nurse
* Evidence of CPD and study at higher level
* Degree or demonstrable evidence of study at higher level
Knowledge
* Sound understanding of contemporary Mental Health agenda and clinical skills
Experience
* Management role within a multi-disciplinary service at a senior level
* Ability to analyse and resolve management problems
* Inpatient experience or significant leadership experience at Band 7
* Experience of supervision and appraisal systems
* Substantial clinical experience with progressive career/management development
Skills
* Leadership skills, Excellent communicator with an ability to communicate with all staff at all levels of the organisation
* A positive attitude to organisational change
* Commitment to on-going personal development
