As a Planning Manager, you will be an integral part of the team, helping to guide development projects through the planning process and securing necessary consents for sustainable, high-quality developments.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and shape the planning strategy for new and existing sites in line with Company overall objectives.
Provide insights on planning policy changes, identify potential risks, and highlight opportunities for development.
Conduct site assessments to evaluate planning potential, taking into account sustainability, biodiversity, and community impact.
Provide advice on land acquisition decisions based on planning risks and opportunities.
Manage and coordinate planning applications, ensuring that all documentation, consultations, and regulatory requirements are fulfilled.
Liaise with local authorities and stakeholders to facilitate approvals, addressing concerns and feedback
Build and maintain strong relationships with local planning authorities, consultants, and community stakeholders.
Lead public consultations and community engagement efforts, promoting commitment to community-building and collaboration.
Lead and mentor a growing planning team, fostering a culture of teamwork, learning, and excellence.
Encourage a collaborative working environment where ideas are shared and challenges are solved together.Qualifications and Experience:
Degree in Town Planning, Urban Design, Geography, or a related field.
Membership with a professional body such as RTPI is highly desirable.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in planning, with a focus on residential development within the UK housebuilding sector.
Proven track record of successfully managing complex planning applications and securing consents.Skills and Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of UK planning law, policies, and regulations for residential development.
Demonstrated understanding of sustainability and biodiversity principles and their application to residential developments.
Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to clearly and diplomatically communicate complex planning issues.
A customer-focused approach, with a genuine passion for creating community-driven projects.
Strong team player with values of integrity, trust, and collaboration.
Proactive and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
Results-driven, with a focus on securing planning consents within agreed timelines.
High attention to detail and a commitment to quality submissions.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
