Opportunity to join an employer of choice as the Tax Compliance and Provisioning Accountant. You will be responsible for UK tax compliance and will need to have relevant industry experience or have worked in practice.
Main duties and responsibilities:
1. Preparing corporation tax returns and computations for UK companies.
2. Preparing all necessary data, examining technical issues, and computing tax liability using specialist software.
3. Filing corporation Tax Returns with HMRC, addressing questions from HMRC, and ensuring that liability is agreed.
4. Researching and legislative checking selected tax technical matters relevant to tax return responsibilities.
5. Preparing tax provisioning for inclusion in the statutory accounts of the legal entities in the UK.
6. Preparing the UK Group relief and UK corporate interest restriction position of the Group.
7. Examining technical issues and analyzing tax legislation to determine the appropriate presentation of specific transactions.
8. Preparing Petroleum Revenue Tax returns and assisting with all associated PRT compliance.
9. Assisting with tax compliance as required.
10. Assisting with UK statutory tax provisions.
11. Working with and supporting other members of the wider UK Tax Team.
12. Preparing energy profits levy calculations for compliance and UK statutory reporting.
13. Supporting across the wider tax function as required.
14. Any other reasonable duty as per instruction by your Manager.
15. Assisting with Tax Advisory as required.
Applicants to this role require:
1. Experience in a relevant corporate or accountancy firm environment or working in the oil and gas industry.
2. Strong accounting skillset with an understanding of complex accounting.
3. Tax practitioner or strong background in accounting with a willingness to learn taxation.
4. Professional taxation or accounting qualification, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, AAT or ATT (or working towards).
5. Degree qualified (preferably in Accounting, Finance, or Law, desired but not essential).
6. Upstream Corporation Tax and PRT experience (desired but not essential).
7. Strong analytical ability.
8. Attention to detail and a desire for precision.
9. Highly numerate.
10. Effective communication skills.
11. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
12. Knowledge of UK upstream tax software desirable, along with knowledge of SAP (preferable but not essential).
13. Ability to learn and develop understanding of accounting systems in order to navigate them.
14. Strong Excel skills.
15. Pro-active, driven, with the ability to take ownership and be a supportive and congenial team player.
16. Desire to grow and learn in a supportive, fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
