ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled IT Infrastructure Engineer to maintain, support, and enhance our IT infrastructure across on-premise and cloud environments. This is a hands-on technical role, responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of core systems while providing 3rd Line technical support.
You'll work closely with the wider IT team and external partners to deliver infrastructure projects, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive improvements in our technology environment.
In addition to technical excellence, you should possess the right attributes to provide guidance and support to the IT Service Desk team when required, ensuring a high standard of service delivery and acting as an escalation point for complex issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Deploy, maintain, and support key IT infrastructure components, including Windows Servers, Azure cloud services, networking equipment, storage solutions, and endpoint devices.
* Provide 3rd Line technical support, acting as the escalation point for complex incidents and problems escalated from the IT Service Desk.
* Own and manage Service Desk SLAs, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and service requests in line with agreed performance targets.
* Support and mentor IT Service Desk Analysts where necessary, promoting best practices and high-quality customer service standards.
* Manage and optimise Windows 10/11 environments, including patch management, system updates, performance tuning, and security configurations.
* Administer and maintain the Microsoft 365 platform (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Defender). Support user and security administration, collaboration tools, and compliance features.
* Configure, monitor, and support Azure resources including virtual machines, storage, networking, and Active Directory services. Manage Microsoft Intune for device enrolment, configuration, and compliance.
* Implement and maintain ITIL-aligned processes related to incident, problem, and change management.
* Contribute to the enforcement of IT security policies, conduct vulnerability remediation activities, and assist with ensuring compliance to ISO 27001 and GDPR standards.
* Participate in IT infrastructure projects such as cloud migrations, network upgrades, security enhancements, and system deployments.
* Maintain technical documentation for infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures.
* Assist in evaluating and implementing new technologies to improve infrastructure performance, reliability, and security.
ABOUT YOU
* Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
* 3-5 years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering, support, or systems administration
* Strong technical skills and experience with:
*Windows Server and Windows 10/11 administration
*Microsoft 365 services (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, Defender)
*Microsoft Azure (IaaS, PaaS), Azure Active Directory, and Intune
*On-premise Active Directory and Group Policy management
*Networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls)
* Solid understanding of IT security principles and frameworks (ISO 27001, GDPR)
* Familiarity with ITIL service management practices
* Ability to act as an escalation point for technical issues and provide guidance to junior team members
* Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organisational abilities
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Certifications such as MCSE, MCSA, ITIL Foundation, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or similar are desirable
