This poses a number of challenges and opportunities that we need to plan for. We have an outstanding opportunity for a Planning Officer working in our busy Strategic Planning Policy team. The role is varied and exciting and you will play a key role in the Team helping us to adopt this Local Plan and to create the next Local Plan which has the Council’s climate emergency declaration of the heart of the Local Plan. Having recently submitted the Local Plan to PINS, the Plan is now at examination and we are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated officer who thrives in a team environment and relishes a challenge. You will be a proactive team member with a desire to help develop and implement transformative ways of working, as well as working on your own initiative. The successful candidate will ideally have a planning qualification or eligible to undertake a planning degree course. You will be able to demonstrate an ability to develop and maintain data associated with information systems and strong ICT skills and experience and an interest in using specialist software such as GIS. You will be working on a wide range of Local Plan projects either individually or with other members of the team, and be able to demonstrate that you can manage a wide range of competing demands whilst being confident with new technology. You will also play a key role at the forthcoming Local Plan examination by supporting other members of the team.
