Design Manager
Location: Hull
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 per annum + package
Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled Group Projects Design Manager to join a leading organization responsible for the delivery of major infrastructure projects across the UK. This role offers the opportunity to manage the technical delivery of significant capital projects within a dynamic, growth-focused environment. The successful candidate will lead the asset workstream on major infrastructure development projects ranging from £20 million to £150 million, while contributing to the company’s long-term growth and value optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
* Serve as the Asset Lead on major development projects, defining scope and managing the delivery of key technical work packages.
* Develop and implement resourcing plans for the asset workstream by leveraging regional resources and utilizing the Group Professional Services Framework (GPSF).
* Oversee the review of consultant and contractor deliverables, ensuring robust technical approaches and the achievement of key project outputs.
* Lead procurement activities for the asset workstream, including the preparation of tender documents, managing tender reviews, and supporting contract awards.
* Coordinate asset workstream outputs with Development and Delivery Managers to establish project requirements, including scheduling, cost planning, and risk management.
* Collaborate with Project Development Managers to define asset scope, including customer and operational requirements.
* Promote and implement best practice technical tools and share lessons learned across the wider organization.
* Identify and proactively manage project risks and opportunities to ensure timely and successful delivery.
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Proven track record in technical project delivery, with a focus on maximizing project value.
* Hands-on, detail-oriented approach with a focus on delivering critical milestones.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to balance and integrate diverse functional needs.
* Proactive, energetic, and assertive personality, capable of driving progress and challenging internal stakeholders constructively.
* Ability to work in a 'lean' client model, with an understanding of practical, results-oriented solutions.
* Experience with infrastructure projects in a port or supply chain-related industrial environment.
Ideal Skills & Experience:
* Experience managing capital infrastructure projects valued at £20 million and above.
* 5+ years of post-graduate experience in technical project delivery.
* Client-side experience in managing major infrastructure projects.
* Chartered Engineer status is highly desirable.
