PSD Consulting are working with a large Financial Services business supporting them with a number of business initiatives for a large Digital strategy program, and are looking for a VB6 Developer to support an existing pipeline
As a VB6 Developer, you will be apart of a team of skilled developers and your deep expertise in VB6 technologies will be instrumental in creating robust, scalable applications. This position requires a proactive developer with a passion for problem-solving and a collaborative mindset and preference for a VB6 Developer with Pensions industry experience.
Leeds based, with a hybrid working model of circa 2 days a week in the office key responsibilities will include:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Application Development & Maintenance (VB6 & .NET):
o Develop, test, and maintain software applications primarily using VB6 technologies.
o Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code that adheres to best practices and design principles.
o Continuously improve and optimize Legacy VB6 applications to meet current standards.
2. Application Design & Architecture:
o Participate in the design phase of software projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to define architecture, system components, and interfaces.
o Provide input on technical designs, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability.
o Assist in user interface design, ensuring intuitive, user-friendly experiences for end-users.
3. Software Troubleshooting & Bug Fixing:
o Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects, ensuring minimal disruption to application performance.
o Conduct code reviews and debugging to ensure a high-quality, stable product.
4. Collaboration & Cross-Functional Teamwork:
o Contribute to team discussions on design, development, and deployment strategies.
Qualifications:
* Experience: At least 5 years of experience in software development, with a focus on VB6
* Technical Skills:
o Experience with relational databases and SQL.
o Familiarity with modern development practices (Agile, DevOps, etc.).
o Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Soft Skills:
o Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
o Self-motivated, with a strong desire to learn and grow in the field.
