Drainage Engineer
Job description
An opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic Flood Risk and Drainage team as a Drainage Engineer. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to support the Drainage Manager and design, manage, and oversee drainage projects that mitigate flood risks and enhance the county's drainage systems.
Key Responsibilities are:
1. Design and implement land and highway drainage schemes.
2. Conduct detailed assessments and inspections of drainage systems to identify outstanding works.
3. Prepare comprehensive technical drawings, documentation, and budgetary information.
4. Manage capital works programmes, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
5. Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors and consultants to ensure seamless project execution.
6. Provide technical, structural, and contractual input into drainage design maintenance and assessment.
7. Contribute to Development Control and SAB and assist in delivering key Council projects.
8. Formulate and implement Drainage Capital and Maintenance Contracts, Asset Management Plans, and Works Programmes.
9. Communicate effectively through technical documentation, as well as verbally and in writing
10. Requirements:
11. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
12. Professional experience in drainage design and flood risk management.
13. Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage and other relevant software.
14. Strong understanding of drainage regulations and best practices.
15. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
16. Ability to travel extensively throughout the County Borough.
17. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.
