There is a vacancy for a full time Consultant post to join Liaison Psychiatry in the North Tees team offering working age Liaison Psychiatry services to North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust. The vacancy is as a result of the retirement of the current post holder. There is also a part-time Older Persons Consultant Psychiatrist in the North Tees Team, and Adult and Older Persons Consultant Psychiatrists in the South Tees Team. There are currently 10 Adult Consultant Psychiatrists covering all aspects of Mental Health in the Stockton and Hartlepool area.
Main duties of the job
Recent investment has resulted in the Tees Liaison Psychiatry service extending to provide age appropriate assessment and short term interventions spanning the age range from 18 and over, across 24 hours. The service consists of two teams, one based in the South of Tees and one based in the North of Tees offering services to the two Acute Trusts within Teesside South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust. The model has been fully operational since April 2013. It has provided a unique opportunity to improve services and reduce cost across the health economy of Teesside.
