EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
Our Bioresources team have a vacancy for a Tanker Fleet Team Manager for the Alfreton region.
You will be responsible for leading our Vacuum Tanker drivers and managing the Bio Resources logistics operations effectively. Your role includes utilizing data to formulate comprehensive plans with the Sludge Planning Office, driving efficiencies, and ensuring compliance with Health and Safety and Legal Driving Time regulations. You’ll also be tasked with spearheading continuous improvements and developing transport solutions that prioritize safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
Collaboration with various Severn Trent stakeholders to enhance productivity is key, as is representing the company professionally during UK-wide travel and interactions with customers, the public, and colleagues.

The key accountabilities of this role will include:
* Ensure all company activities comply with Severn Trent Health & Safety and Environmental policies, government and legislation.
* Monitor, measure and report on operational and development plans focused on improving and driving efficiencies across each of the regions delivered through data-driven interventions.
* Manage, support and motivate team and peers at all sites and out bases, carrying out regular 121’s and bi-annual performance/behavioural reviews.
* Recruit, train and develop drivers according to company policies ensuring relevant HR procedures are followed.
* Establish and maintain a great working relationship with key stakeholders including the Sludge Planning Office, Bioresources Operations, Waste Water Recycling, Property and Transport Teams.
* Be responsible for personnel, monitoring their progress and being their first point of contact should a problem arise making communication skills vital.
* Named on the Company’s Operating License and fully compliant on all activities that surround this including H&S, risk management, vehicle maintenance programmes and policies & procedures.
* Ensure that all fleet vehicles are kept to a high standard and well maintained in line with DVSA legislation and guidelines to ensure maximum operational efficiency and service.
* Ensure operations comply with driving time and rest period Regulations.
* Establish, manage and monitor H&S standards, processes, communications and training ensuring safe systems of work are in place for all activities.
* Incident investigation and reporting within agreed formats and timescales.
* Recording and reporting of all personal injury accidents, near misses and proactive behaviours within team.
* Plan, develop and implement strategy for driver training, induction and performance and development and maintain appropriate systems for measuring.
* Attendance at management, operational and other meetings as necessary to achieve the requirements of the job.
* Driving improved efficiency and productivity through improved service to the business users, improved fleet utilisation and optimised total cost of ownership.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
In order to succeed in this role, you will need a proven track record of managing a team of up to 20 drivers and their vehicles, ideally within a Vacuum tanker or similar transport operation. Flexibility to adapt to customer requirements and operational demands is essential.
You should possess strong analytical and numerical skills, coupled with excellent interpersonal abilities, leadership qualities, and motivational skills.
A working knowledge of O-License obligations and the Working Time Directive, as well as experience in stakeholder and customer management, are also crucial to excel in this position.
