At Mapdec, being a skilled mechanic is paramount. Our busy workshop has outstanding customer reviews thanks to the expertise and proficiency of our mechanics, it is their knowledge and skill we share with our YouTube audience. We are very open-minded to recruiting, and ultimately want to find the right person. If you want to work at Mapdec, we want to hear from you. That said, our ideal candidate would have the following broad attributes.
1. Some years of experience and skilled at working with tools
2. A borderline unhealthy obsession with bicycles
3. Knowledge of a niche such as eBikes, wheels, suspension, carbon, race bikes
4. An ambition to present, review and educate on camera
We realise these skills are somewhat unique and we will offer training and skills nurturing for the right person. Within 6-8 months we would be looking for the chosen candidate to be able to work and bill 4 hours per day in the workshop, providing highly detailed and quality service. Then plan, prepare and present content with our creative team. This might involve self-filming on location (out riding). Often you might be presenting on the service you are working on; real life case studies are a fan favourite.
We want to publish a predicted wage but realise this unique position will require negotiation. As a guide a salary of £26,000 per year would suit someone with a couple of years of experience, full of enthusiasm, but with lots to learn. A salary of £32,000 would likely be for an experienced and specialised mechanic, keen to move into reviewing and presenting, but with no experience of it. Above this and you would likely have good experience of both mechanics and presenting, and add value to the creative team with videography skills, negotiating brand partnerships or editing.
You will be required to work late one night a week, where you are welcome to participate for free in our fitness sessions at onsite gym Strength2Speed, and work at least 15 Saturday mornings per year.
Your package includes all the usual statutory holiday and benefits, plus a company iPhone, medical insurance and cycle to work vouchers.
We are looking to interview throughout February with a candidate starting in April or sooner.
