Job Title: FME Specialist
Location: Hybrid based in Paddington, London or Milton Keynes

Role Overview:
The FME Specialist will be responsible for helping collect and convert raw data into useful data products, ready to be consumed and visualised. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and maintaining data pipelines, ensuring the accuracy and availability of data, and supporting the creation of insightful visualisations. The ideal candidate will have experience working with railway industry data (not essential), along with proficiency in GIS and tools such as Python and Microsoft Power Platform.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Data Pipeline Development:
Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines in FME to collect, process, and store data from various sources. Ensure data quality, integrity, and availability by implementing appropriate validation, transformation, and cleaning processes.
2. Data Integration:
Utilise FME to integrate diverse data sources, automate workflows, and optimise data processing tasks. Collaborate with data visualisation specialists to provide clean and well-structured data that supports the development of insightful and user-friendly visualisations.
3. Railway Industry Data Expertise:
Apply industry-specific knowledge to work with railway data, ensuring that the data solutions developed are relevant, accurate, and aligned with industry standards.
4. Data Governance & Security:
Implement and maintain data governance standards to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Ensure that all data handling practices meet security and privacy policies.
5. Performance Optimisation:
Monitor and optimise data pipeline performance to ensure efficient data processing and minimal downtime. Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues in a timely manner.
6. Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain comprehensive documentation of data processes, pipelines, and system architecture.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Proven experience as an FME expert, preferably within the railway or transport sector (not essential).
2. Strong proficiency with other GIS tools such as ESRI.
3. Solid understanding of data integration, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
4. Experience working with railway industry data, including familiarity with relevant standards and regulations.
5. Proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or other relevant programming languages.
6. Experience with cloud-based data solutions (e.g., Azure, AWS).
7. Experience of working in an agile environment.
