Logistics Coordinator
Location – Northampton
Salary - £25,000 - £30,000 per annum (+ discretionary bonus)
Hours - 9:00AM – 17:30 Mon – Fri with ability to work extra hours when required including occasional weekend calls.
Our client is currently looking for a Logistics Coordinator to join their international operations team. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager with the primary purpose of coordination towards multi & intermodal traffic worldwide.
Duties include:
1. Receiving bookings and organising required transport/equipment for multimodal shipments.
2. Accurate preparation and completion of export cargo documentation.
3. Liaising directly with the shipping lines, haulers, customs agents, stevedores, forwarders, SSL oversees offices/operations staff and third-party agencies.
4. Provide consistent reports to customers (tracking, issues, delivery schedules etc.).
5. Data entry into the in-house transport and accounts systems.
6. Raising sales invoices within the in-house freight system.
The successful candidate will need:
1. Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
2. Attention to detail is a necessity.
3. Highly customer orientated.
4. High level computer literacy particularly with MS Office.
5. Can-do attitude with ability to work under pressure.
6. Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a small team.
7. Proactive outlook with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
8. Analytical and logical approach to problem solving.
9. Previous experience in a similar level role with a good understanding of transport/logistics operations is an advantage.
10. Multimodal operations and knowledge of worldwide freight (incl. container, rail, road, air, customs) would be a big plus but not a necessity.
11. Written and verbal fluency in a second language (other than English) would be advantageous but not essential.
12. A good understanding of geographical knowledge is a necessity.
