Electrical Maintenance Engineering Manager
Qualifications:
Must be NVQ level 3 qualified.
Must have experience managing the electrical maintenance function of a business.
Working days: Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM
Role Overview:
To develop and manage the engineering team.
To manage the Engineering shift resource in order to respond to machine breakdowns in a reasonable time frame while resourcing planned maintenance activities and emerging work.
To co-ordinate activities with the engineering resource and Operational Management across the facility to ensure resource is suitably assigned, line availability managed, and schedules are achieved.
Principal Accountabilities
Health & Safety
* Actively support the Business in the development and implementation of an Engineering H&S management system.
* Audit the implementation of engineering standards within the area.
* This is both for work performed by in-house staff and contracted activities.
* Challenge others with Standards & Behavioural non-acceptance and drive safe working practices in the area on all maintenance-related jobs.
* Support the Business in the development of Risk Assessments and delivery of Task Observations.
Planned Maintenance / Breakdowns
* Manage the electrical engineering resource for the maintenance, repair, and development of processing machinery and ancillary equipment in a safe and productive manner to maximise availability at optimum cost.
* Work with PLC's to include Siemens, Mitsubishi, and Allen Bradley.
* Work on AC/DC motors/converters and inverters.
* Read schematics.
* Monitor the department's performance against business goals with an aim to introduce corrective actions while delivering annual plan targets.
* Ensure process detail (i.e., breakdown history, service requirements, planned maintenance activities, spares, part detail, etc.) are detailed within the planned electrical maintenance system.
* Ensure appropriate records are retained to demonstrate maintenance and compliance.
* Ensure legal, statutory, and policy inspections are performed across the process and office facilities.
* Procure replacement parts from approved suppliers.
* Ensure spares are managed through the Pirana stock control system and minimum levels maintained to minimise process downtime.
Training / Resource
* Ensure engineers are suitably trained in relation to activities they are required to perform.
* Ensure appropriate training iPolicy documents and safe working procedures are delivered, understood, and complied with.
* Through discussion with the team members, identify development needs in relation to engineering skills, succession planning, and Business policy.
Continuous Improvement
Supporting the Trio teams, plan and deliver engineering development projects across the asset base to improve plant operational performance and asset integrity.
Management
* Maintain key performance indicators and communicate within the engineering function and, where appropriate, to the wider business.
* Manage the engineering resource with an aim to ensure sufficient resource is available to manage production shifts and achieve business goals.
Vision & Context
A key challenge is to manage the Engineering resource across the facility while being a hands-on Engineering Lead. Through the utilisation and development of your team and support within the wider engineering function, co-ordinate activities between the Business functions to minimise process breakdowns through robust Planned Maintenance activities and continuous improvement projects.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
* Detailed knowledge of the process facility, material/products (materials, coatings, grades etc.), customer quality requirements, and performance targets.
* Detailed knowledge of business systems including PIRANA, STRATIX, and SAP.
* In-depth knowledge of Contractor Control Process.
* Legislative Ownership (PUWER, LOLER etc.).
* Continuous improvement techniques.
* Understanding of Planned Maintenance Techniques.
Skills
* Engineering - Educated to university degree or apprenticeship served in an appropriate engineering discipline NVQ 3.
* A knowledge of statistical and problem-solving techniques with computer literacy and good oral and written communication skills.
* A knowledge of and ability to apply Continuous Improvement techniques.
