Job summary: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Salaried General Practitioner (GP) to join our dynamic and supportive team at Great North Medical Group (GNMG). The successful candidate will provide high-quality primary care services to our diverse patient population, working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients. As a GP at GNMG, you will be responsible for the holistic management of patient care, offering consultations, assessments, and treatments in line with current best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Consultations: Conduct a wide range of consultations, including face-to-face, telephone, and video appointments, in line with the practice schedule.
2. Medical Care Delivery: Provide high-quality medical care to the patient population in accordance with the GMS contract, ensuring effective treatment and patient satisfaction.
3. Autonomous Clinical Decision-Making: Make professional, independent decisions regarding patient care, whether patients are self-referred or referred by other healthcare professionals.
4. Prescribing: Adhere to local and national prescribing guidelines, ensuring that all prescriptions are issued in line with best practices.
5. Chronic Disease Management: Proactively manage patients with long-term conditions, creating and monitoring care plans focusing on prevention and health maintenance.
6. Acute Care: Treat acute illnesses, assess, and diagnose patients presenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions.
7. Preventative Care, Health Screening and Health Promotion: Engage in proactive health promotion and disease prevention activities.
8. Care Planning: Develop and implement individualized care plans in consultation with patients.
9. Counselling and Health Education: Provide patients with counselling and education on health promotion and disease prevention.
10. Patient Management: Admit or discharge patients from your caseload as appropriate.
11. Clinical Administration: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in accordance with NHS and practice standards.
12. Administrative Duties: Process administrative tasks in a timely manner.
13. On-Call and Duty Doctor Responsibilities: Participate in on-call and duty doctor roles as required.
14. Audit and Quality Improvement: Collect and analyse data for audit purposes.
15. Medication Management: Prescribe medication as appropriate and conduct regular medication reviews.
16. Team Collaboration: Fulfil all standard duties associated with a GP working in primary care.
17. Clinical Leadership and Mentorship: Provide guidance and clinical leadership within the practice.
18. Practice Meetings: Attend and contribute to practice meetings effectively.
19. Emergency Care: Provide timely interventions for patients with urgent and emergency health issues.
20. Continuous Professional Development: Engage in continuous learning and professional development activities.
21. Appraisal and Revalidation: Ensure compliance with the appraisal process.
22. Contractual and Legal Compliance: Ensure all clinical work is carried out in line with NHS contractual obligations.
23. Additional Responsibilities: Engage in practice audits and participate in local initiatives.
24. Communication: Communicate effectively with team members and patients.
25. Delivering a quality service: Recognise and work within own competence and professional code of conduct.
26. Leadership personal and people development: Take responsibility for own learning and performance.
