Sustainability Project Manager
Location: London or Ipswich, UK or Wroclaw Poland
The Sustainability Project Manager, reporting to the Global Head of Sustainability, is responsible for providing project management across a wide range of environmental and social sustainability programmes globally.
The role includes responsibility for managing project milestones and outputs, collaborating and engaging a range of internal and external stakeholders – including senior leaders and clients – and understanding processes, risk controls and reporting mechanisms necessary to the projects and team’s success, including those required by AXA Group.
The position requires detailed knowledge of Sustainability practices, significant attention to detail and a drive to see projects completed thoroughly and on time, alongside interaction with multiple departments globally, and frequent collaboration with a variety of charities, community organizations, clients, and other external stakeholders across the Americas, Europe and UK and Asia Pacific.
Essential Responsibilities
* Provide project management across key projects in our Roots of Resilience sustainability strategy including the development of our net zero roadmap, our employee training and engagement programmes, and our client engagement activities, as well as supporting other environmental and social sustainability initiatives.
* Manage the development of marketing and communication campaigns and materials to promote the progress of AXA XL’s sustainability strategy, including project management activities with our communications agency, liaison, planning and management of internal stakeholders, coordinating the annual communications plan and overseeing timelines for all planned deliverables.
* Lead the implementation of our sustainability reporting platform, including managing the annual relationship with external service providers, managing the Sustainability team’s regular inputs, developing and maintaining project milestones plans, conducting periodic training for users and engaging internal stakeholders as needed.
* Oversee the production of the annual sustainability report, in partnership with the wider Sustainability team, and provide support to the Sustainability Team Assistant on internal reporting requirements.
* Partner with the Social Impact team on developing impact measurement plans.
* Manage AXA XL’s response to the Annual Sustainability Entity Index for AXA Group.
* Manage general ESG engagements with the business, including the ESG incubator and ESG products and services catalogue.
* Support the Global Head of Sustainability with planning of team offsites and other team engagement and development events.
* Partner with the Sustainability Team Assistant on establishing and managing team processes and working methods, including accounts and procurement processes.
* Support the annual review and reporting of internal risk management processes and controls.
You will report to the Global Head of Sustainability.
Required Skills and Abilities
* Good working knowledge of Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability in prior related role(s).
* Highly organised, solid project management skills, with attention to detail and ability to keep contributors focused on deadlines and deliverables.
* Ability to drive inspiring and compelling internal communications campaigns and external materials to highlight progress and encourage colleagues and stakeholders to engage in our work.
* Confidence with coordinating a range of project activities simultaneously, including organizing activities, liaising with and motivating stakeholders, driving progress and measuring impact.
* Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to build relationships with a range of stakeholders internally and externally.
* Ability to work autonomously, identify, manage and mitigate risks/issues as they occur.
* Keen team player, willing to collaborate and provide support across the Sustainability team.
* Passion and high energy approach for driving sustainable change, encouraging our company and colleagues to make positive impacts.
