A primary school based in Northampton has an exciting opportunity for a committed Teaching Assistant to join their team to provide vital support for pupils with Speech and Language support.
As the successful Teaching Assistant, you will be working with groups of pupils with delayed speech and language development. You will be experienced with delivering phonics and other intervention programmes to support pupils' development and confidence in communication.
Key Responsibilities
* Support pupils with SLCN in accessing the curriculum and achieving their learning goals.
* Implement strategies and interventions designed by speech and language therapists.
* Assist in creating and delivering tailored resources and activities to improve communication skills.
* Encourage participation in classroom discussions and promote effective social interactions.
* Monitor and record pupils progress, providing feedback to teachers and therapists.
* Collaborate with the teaching team to adapt learning materials to meet students' individual needs.
* Foster a positive, patient, and encouraging environment for learning.
Essential Criteria:
* Experience working with children, particularly those with additional needs related to speech and language.
* Understanding of SLCN and strategies to support communication development.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* A proactive, adaptable, and empathetic approach to supporting children.
Desirable Criteria:
* Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
* Experience with specific programs or tools, such as Makaton, PECs, or Elklan training.
* Previous experience working with speech and language therapists or within a similar role.
