Overview -
World Rugby are seeking to appoint a detail-oriented Brand and Rights Approvals Manager, reporting into the Director of Brand Operations, to oversee and co-ordinate the global usage of World Rugby’s IP around all its tournaments; ensuring consistency, compliance, and alignment with brand guidelines and commercial and non-commercial contractual rights. This role is essential in safeguarding the integrity of our brand and the rights of our key stakeholders across all internal and external channels. Principle Accountabilities -
Management of World Rugby Brand Approvals
1. Managing the approvals team to ensure all brand approvals are processed within contractual turnaround times
2. Review and approve branded content, including marketing materials, digital assets, products, and advertisements, to ensure alignment with brand guidelines
3. Processing approvals from all World Rugby commercial and non-commercial stakeholders; sponsors, organising committees, host cities, tourism, government, rugby unions etc. (previous tournaments have generated upwards of 16,000 approval submissions)
4. Presenting, onboarding and working closely with all stakeholders in the build up to approvals submissions to ensure their promotions and campaigns respect all commercial contracts and brand guidelines
5. Work closely with internal teams with the World Rugby’s partnerships, marketing, legal and operations teams to guide and facilitate the brand approval process
6. Develop, document, and refine the approval workflow to increase efficiency and reduce bottlenecks
Managing all use of World Rugby IP
1. Working with all World Rugby official stakeholders on their use of the World Rugby’s IP. Advising on what is and isn’t possible and being able to clearly express the reasons why. The candidate should be strong minded and confident enough to defend the brands where necessary as stakeholders often push the limits
2. Work closely with both the Director of Brand Operations and Designers on developing new and dynamic applications of the World Rugby brands across multiple platforms
3. Manage the consistent implementation of World Rugby brands across all consumer touch points
Management of Online Brand and Approvals Portal
1. Update portal content when new elements are made available to stakeholders
2. Maintain a repository of assets for easy access and reference by stakeholders
3. Managing stakeholder access and permissions
4. Track approval timelines and outcomes to identify patterns or areas for improvement
5. Provide regular updates to leadership on the status of key projects and approvals
Skills & Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
2. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in brand management, marketing, or a related role, preferably in a fast-paced corporate or agency environment
3. Experience leading successful teams, fostering a high performance culture.
4. Experience of managing external stakeholder relationships
5. Experience of navigating complex stakeholder groups and collaborating cross-functionally, seeking out opportunities and solutions
