As a Local Area Coordinator, you'll have the opportunity to collaborate with a fantastic team across our Port Adelaide, Salisbury, and Gawler offices.
What you’ll be doing:
You will be the heartbeat of the NDIA in your local community. Your role will be centered on empowering people with disability, their families, and carers to build, pursue, and fulfill their goals and aspirations, exercising choice and control while engaging with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Your work will include:
1. Person and Community-Centered Approach: Assist participants and people with a disability to link and engage with mainstream and community supports, supporting scheme access where appropriate. Help participants identify and develop goals, emphasising strengths-based practices to empower individuals.
2. Place-Based Engagement: Commit to meeting participants and people with disability in their communities, living, meeting, working, and gathering in the places that matter to them. This role is not a work-from-home position; it requires active engagement within the community.
3. Relationship and Partnership Building: Develop strong, positive community partnerships that support capacity building and ensure accessible and inclusive communities. Work collaboratively with local communities and mainstream services to raise awareness and become more inclusive of the needs of people with disability.
4. Strengths-Based and Outcomes-Focused: Utilise a strengths-based approach to help participants understand how the funding in their plan works and explore ways to achieve their goals. Work within a place-based framework to ensure services are tailored to the unique needs and strengths of each community.
5. Flexible Working Environment: Feros Care will provide you with 1 x Work From Home (WFH) day pw as well as access to flexible work arrangements in line with Fair Work Australia criteria. We operate within a hot desking environment in our Salisbury, Port Adelaide & Gawler offices whilst also actively participating in community work.
Travel and Flexibility: This role involves travel within our Service regions, including the City of Playford, Salisbury, Tea Tree Gully, Port Adelaide Enfield, Barossa, Light & Lower North regions, with Feros Care LAC offices located in Salisbury, Port Adelaide, and Gawler. Flexibility to work additional hours outside of core business hours may be required to achieve participant outcomes and community engagement activities. There will be an expectation to work a minimum 1 x day per week in the Salisbury office, then the flexibility of Port Adelaide and/or Gawler on the other 3 x days pw.

* A person-centered approach when working with vulnerable people from diverse backgrounds, focused on empowering individuals to exercise choice and control, delivering positive outcomes, maintaining confidentiality, and upholding professional integrity.
* Relevant qualifications in disability, allied health, community services, or a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with people living with disability in a planning/assessment role or lived experience with disability or caring for someone with disability.
