The Program Officer supports the development and implementation of initiatives and projects, including the development of supporting procedure and policy, and drives acceptance into the WorkSafe business and across a number of stakeholder groups. This position will play a key role across multiple programs and will require collaboration across health and safety focused teams.
Program Officers in the Program Branch form part of a flexible resource pool that work under the direction of a Program Manager. Typically they work in multi-disciplinary project teams to develop, implement, manage and evaluate projects that are designed to address complex problems to assist the Health and Safety Business Unit to deliver WorkSafe’s Strategy.
Key Accountabilities
1. Collaborate with team members assigned to projects in the scoping, design and development of projects.
2. Seek input from stakeholders at key developmental and implementation stages of projects. Develop project objectives in collaboration with stakeholders to build shared ownership, which may involve acting as facilitator at meetings or workshops.
3. Possess technical expertise and knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety.
4. Work with relevant internal stakeholders to bring together expertise and knowledge that can promote knowledge sharing and problem solving in relation to hazards, risks, and the effectiveness of previously conducted activities.
5. Accountable for creating and capturing accurate and complete records of business activities related to this position, in accordance with approved policy and procedures.
About you
You are an experienced Program Officer who wants to make a difference. Your communication and organisational skills are exemplary, and you have a passion for ensuring Victorians return home safely. You are a team-oriented person who enjoys making an impact on your team and stakeholders.
1. You have a tertiary qualification or experience in a related discipline (e.g. Project Management, OHS, Public Health, Health Promotion, or Behavioural Science).
2. You have advanced skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, and Outlook.
3. You have experience in the preparation of project plans, agendas, minutes, reports, briefs, meeting documentation, and presentations.
4. You have a demonstrated ability to liaise professionally with a diverse stakeholder group, including senior management, employer groups, unions, and both external and internal stakeholders.
5. You have a strong ability to undertake effective research and analyze data material.
