UK Site HR Manager
Reports to: UK Managing Director
Responsible for managing the day-to-day operational activities of the HR team within Astemo, including the management of the local HR and H & S team and allocation of tasks. Development and implementation of HR policies and procedures locally in line with global, regional and local needs with a ‘what’s next’ and a best working practices mindset. Provision of a professional advisory service to all employees and work in partnership with managers at all levels of the organisation to ensure that they are fully supported in all their line management responsibilities.
Your core responsibilities include:
1. Develop and execute a HR strategy aligned with business and Global objectives and the needs of site.
2. Overseeing and implementing strategic HR operational initiatives to drive efficiency and support business objectives.
3. Define initiatives to address site-specific challenges.
4. Managing and ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll operations.
5. Lead and manage the HR and H & S team, providing coaching, mentoring and fostering a culture of accountability and transparency.
6. Propose and gain approval for organisational adjustments.
7. Monitor and manage compensation budgets whilst applying global and regional salary review processes.
8. Ensure HRIS data accuracy at site level and manage KPI reporting both site and regionally.
9. Ensure compliance with UK employment laws, including GDPR, Equality Act and WTR whilst addressing changes in legislation.
10. Drive a culture of safety by leading HSE initiatives, ensuring compliance with UK regulations and overseeing safety training programs.
11. Design and implement recruitment strategies to address skills gaps and recruit key hires to build a strong talent pipeline.
12. Conduct workforce planning to ensure the business is equipped to meet operational demands and achieve long-term goals.
13. Provide guidance on employee relation matters, including grievances, absence management and disciplinary issues ensuring consistency and fairness.
14. Create and implement programs to develop leadership capabilities ensuring the growth of internal talent and preparing future leaders.
15. Lead initiatives to foster an inclusive culture, promote equal opportunities and compliance initiatives.
16. Monitor HR performance metrics such as turnover, absenteeism and engagement using data insights to inform strategic decisions.
17. Oversee organisational changes ensuring smooth transitions while maintaining employee morale and productivity.
18. Develop and implement engagement strategies including recognition programs, wellness initiatives and regular Engagement Forums.
19. Provide competitive compensation and benefit packages aligned with UK market benchmarks and oversee pension and employee wellbeing programs.
20. Lead sustainability and CSR initiatives and strengthen employer branding in the UK.
21. Drive the adoption of HR technology to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
Profile and Qualifications:
1. Proven experience of senior HR leadership experience with significant experience in UK manufacturing environments.
2. Proven ability to manage employee relations, workforce planning and employee engagement in high paced operational settings.
3. Strong people management skills with a proven ability to lead, inspire and develop teams and line managers.
4. Advanced knowledge of UK employment law, health and safety regulations and labour market trends.
5. Excellent communication, interpersonal and decision-making skills.
6. CIPD qualified (Level 7 preferred) or equivalent.
7. NEBOSH qualification or equivalent (desirable).
8. Proficiency in Workday (desirable).
9. Familiarity with UK specific compliance requirements such as apprenticeship levy management.
10. Resilience and adaptability to navigate challenges in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
11. Strong focus on continuous improvement and the ability to lead organisational change effectively.
12. A collaborative and ethical approach to leadership with a passion for employee development and engagement.
13. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
