Job Description
The Head of Safety is responsible to the Accountable Manager/CEO. They are responsible for and are the focal point for the development, administration and maintenance of an effective Safety Management System throughout the group. They will hold the Form 4 Post Holder for UK CAA, EASA Nominated Person and GCAA Post Holder for Safety Manager.
* Manage the SMS implementation plan.
* Facilitate the risk assessment management process, to include oversight of hazard identification, risk assessment and risk mitigation of all activities conducted by SAA.
* Monitor any corrective action required and ensure timely follow up and review.
* Provide periodic reports on safety to the Safety team and other staff over all bases.
* Maintain safety documentation such as notices issued by NAA’s and other bodies such as HSE, OSHA.
* Plan and organise safety training for all staff and contractors within the company
* Set up and lead the Safety Action Group and Safety Review Board.
* Provide independent advice on safety matters as required.
* Advise Senior Managers on safety matters as required.
* Assist Line Managers with safety matters as required.
* Be involved in occurrence or accident investigations across all bases.
* Hold direct reporting authority to the Skyborne Airline Academy Accountable Manager.
* Liaise between the FSO’s around the company.
Qualifications
* An operational management background and technical knowledge sufficient (or access to) to understand the systems that support Skyborne Airline Academy
* Have successfully completed an industry recognised Safety Management training course
* Knowledge of Management Systems including compliance monitoring systems and safety management
* Knowledge and experience in Hazard Identification and Risk management
* Knowledge and experience in Project Management.
* Knowledge and experience of ICAO standards and global requirements and provisions on safety management.
* Have knowledge of basic safety investigation techniques and attended a recognised course.
* Have a knowledge and experience of Human factors in aviation
* Experience in People-Management and people skills.
* Experience in the supervision of personnel and contractors
Additional Information
Salary circa £60-70k depending on experience.
Full Time - 40 hours, Monday - Friday. This position is a hybrid position, office location Gloucestershire Airport; however there may be a requirement to travel to any location.
