The role in brief:
An opportunity has arisen to join the Payroll team as a Manager.
Who we are looking for:
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who has experience within a Payroll Bureau managerial position, to work as part of the Payroll team to provide an excellent service to our client portfolio. We are looking for someone who will be integral to supporting and developing the team.
What the role involves:
Based in our Blackburn office and reporting directly to our Payroll Director, you will be involved in:
1. Receiving and processing payroll details from clients, by e-mail, telephone and via the portal with your own client portfolio.
2. Maintaining the payrolls within the payroll portal, generating reports as required and transmission of Real Time data to HMRC.
3. Creating BACS files and transmitting the same.
4. Dealing with queries, raised by HMRC, concerning client payrolls, as well as queries raised by clients and be responsible for escalated queries within the team.
5. Assisting in generating new work for the Payroll Bureau as well as identifying possible additional work opportunities for the practice.
6. Taking ownership of networking and marketing events, including presenting where necessary.
7. Actively supporting and assisting in the coaching and development of other members of the PM+M team and carrying out performance reviews as the reviewer.
8. Overseeing the more complex clients within the team and support with the reviewing of payroll work carried out in the department.
9. Actively encouraging the use of internal training tools and opportunities to the wider team.
10. Carrying out AML checks and assisting the Partners/Directors in ensuring the timely completion of internal AML forms.
11. Using initiative in driving internal procedures within the team, both maintaining and development.
12. Onboarding new clients, including liaising with previous providers in obtaining data and assisting in a timely manner with the issuing of engagement letters.
13. Actively managing the day-to-day workflow and distribution of client portfolios.
14. Assisting in the preparation of fee quotes for new work.
15. Assisting in the monthly billing procedure to ensure we capture all work undertaken and bill promptly.
16. Complying with the requirements of the firms Team handbook.
17. Undertaking such additional or alternative duties when requested and in line with experience, skills and training.

Your attributes:
As well as relevant experience in a similar / managerial role and sector, we’d like you to be:
1. Experience in a variety of payroll software would be desired, with IRIS PP and Paycircle advantageous.
2. Experience in dealing with school payrolls and The Teachers Pension would also be an advantage.
3. Keen to play an active role in a dynamic team and willing to contribute to the success of the team and the firm as a whole.
4. Passionate about providing great client service with a genuine interest in our clients.
5. Great at communicating with people at all levels, someone who is comfortable to be client facing when needed.
6. Positive, emotionally aware and resilient.
7. Good at using your initiative, solving problems and working under pressure.
8. Motivated and driven.
9. A good networker.
10. Have good organisational skills as well as the ability to take initiative and contribute to the effective running of the department.
