Main duties of the job
The Norfolk Hospice Tapping House supports 1,500 patients and their families and our vision is that every person living with or affected by a life limiting condition will be offered choice and access to excellent end of life and bereavement care. Volunteers within The Norfolk Hospice play a fundamental part in the functioning of all aspects of the organisation. This role plays an essential part in developing, supporting and growing the volunteer workforce to support our strategic objectives.

Job responsibilities
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
10. Through effective liaison with teams, promote and identify potential opportunities for volunteering and, in collaboration with managers and external partners, develop and implement plans to fill these gaps.
11. In consultation with line managers compile volunteer role descriptions and review periodically to ensure they remain accurate.
12. Recruit, interview, assess and place volunteers according to their skills and experience and train others to do so.
13. Ensure volunteers undergo an appropriate recruitment and selection process prior to placement according to their skills and experience prior to commencing their volunteering with the hospice.
14. Complete all new volunteer paperwork including references, Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks are obtained and risk assessments are undertaken for all volunteer roles and reviewed on regular basis.
15. Maintain the Volunteer database ensuring all information is kept up to date and is recorded correctly.
16. Provide general administrative support to voluntary services, including data entry and the use of word and excel.
17. Provide relevant information and statistics necessary for monitoring and reporting on a monthly and quarterly basis.
18. Provide support to the Voluntary Services own volunteers.
19. Assess, organise and/or deliver as appropriate induction courses including the Volunteer Welcome Morning and any other general training requirements (including Health and Safety) to support the volunteers.
20. Ensure that annual mandatory training is undertaken by the relevant volunteers.
21. Discuss and explain the Hospice vision, values, procedures and standards.
22. Develop and maintain personal contact with volunteers as necessary.
23. Carry out visits to all shops and warehouse to provide support to managers and volunteers.
24. Assist the Voluntary Service Manager with the arranging of meetings/events for volunteers on a business/social basis.
25. Ensure that volunteers are aware of relevant policy (and other statutory) procedures.
26. Ensure volunteers receive regular communication and updates on Hospice news and review communication methods on an ongoing basis to ensure effectiveness.
27. To work with the Voluntary Services Manager to coordinate the Hospice annual Thank You to Volunteers event.
28. Support line managers in organising induction, information/training sessions and rotas for volunteers when required.
29. Ensure appropriate procedures exist for monitoring and managing the exit of volunteers from the organisation.
30. Work with the Voluntary Services Manager and the Fundraising Team to set up and organise corporate volunteers projects.
31. Undertake key projects as required by the Voluntary Services Manager.
