Human Resources Operations Manager at John Nicholls Building & Plumbing Merchants
We have an exciting new opportunity at John Nicholls (Trading) Limited / J&Bs. We are looking for a Counter Sales Assistant for our Ringwood & Upton Branches.
Job Purpose:
As a Counter Sales Assistant, you will be serving our customers on the counter at our Plumbing and Heating Merchant Branch in either Ringwood or Upton. You will be responsible for helping to achieve branch and company sales & gross profit targets by trading effectively. To deliver exceptional customer service to ensure customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To deal with customers both in person and on the telephone, taking orders and helping to resolve customer’s problems, offering advice where possible.
2. To negotiate with suppliers and monitor customer orders to ensure smooth delivery.
3. Deliver branch sales and gross profit in line with sales and gross profit targets by actively selling and promoting company products.
4. Obtain quotes for stock items from suppliers to ensure most cost-effective option.
5. Ensure adequate stock levels on shelves and carry out stock checks when required.
Who are we looking for?
You will be happy to work as part of a team and have customer service experience. You will be computer literate. Ideally, you will have worked previously for a plumbing merchant or have knowledge of plumbing and heating materials, but this is not essential and training will be given.
Key Skills and Competencies:
* Excellent communication skills.
* Self-confident and self-motivated.
* Knowledge of plumbing and heating materials would be an advantage.
Experience:
* Customer service: 1 year (preferred).
* Plumbing Merchant Sales: 1 year (preferred).
Licence/Certification:
* Driving Licence (required).
* United Kingdom (required).

Working Hours: This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday plus some Saturday mornings will be required on a rota basis.
