To participate in the provision of the in-house FM services to a specified area within the Trust, which may include in-patient areas and retail outlets. The FM services comprise of cleaning, catering, portering, bed making, and laundering services; however, some of these services are unit specific. Therefore, sections of this job description may not be relevant to all staff and will be identified where appropriate.
You must be aware of the important part you play in maintaining the environment to an excellent standard. Your work will involve working alongside patients and occasionally interacting with them as you carry out your duties outlined below.
You will be working as part of the Facilities Team and are expected to have a flexible approach to your duties. You will be a valued member of the Estates & Facilities Management Team.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated team player to join an existing Estates & Facilities team to deliver Soft FM disciplines (Cleaning).
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the management of The Trust in Luton. The Estates & Facilities Department is responsible for delivering high quality and cost-effective Estates and Facilities management services across Essex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
Job responsibilities
The following duties will include:
* To ensure that the ward(s) / areas you are assigned to are cleaned in accordance with the Work Schedule for those ward(s) / areas. This will include vacuuming floors; sweeping, scrubbing and mopping floors; high and low dusting; wiping over and polishing (where applicable) both vertical and horizontal surfaces, mirrors, chairs, bins, sani-bins; cleaning toilets, sinks, baths and showers, fridges, microwaves and other items in the kitchens; defrosting fridges on a regular basis; restocking consumables such as toilet tissue, hand towels, soap; descaling taps; and bins and replacing bin liners. (* Providing they have not been soiled with body fluids).
We are looking for individuals who can work part-time hours available across the working week:
Part-time hours (shift pattern as below):
* Monday: 18:00-20:00
* Tuesday: Off
* Thursday: Off
* Friday: 18:00-20:00
* Saturday: Off
* Sunday: Off

Person Specification
Education/Qualifications
* Understanding of cleanliness and good hygiene practices
* Understanding of the responsibilities relating to H&S at work
* Basic understanding of infection control
* Knowledge of manual handling
Skills/experience
* Able to read/write/converse in English
* Demonstrate ability to work on own or in a team
* Able to undertake general portering abilities
* Basic use of computer packages - Word, Excel, Outlook etc.
Personal Qualities
* Good understanding of Customer Service
* Able to operate with agreed performance standards
