Main duties of the job
To plan and deliver high quality integrated nursing care to the practice population.
To promote health and well-being within the practice population.
To work with clinical and non-clinical practice staff, other members of the wider healthcare team and NHSE/CCG in contributing to:
1. The achievement of QoF.
2. Delivering objectives set out in the NHS Action Plan Meeting the standards as set out by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Iridium Medical Practice was established in 2009. The practice is located within the Richmond Primary Care Centre, which serves Stechford, Yardley, Saltley, Bordesley Green and surrounding areas. JOB TITLE: Practice Nurse
HOURS: Negotiable
Job Summary:
To provide and maintain an extremely high standard of nursing care for patients as well as providing nursing assistance to the doctors and other members of the primary healthcare team. The duties will include all tasks normally undertaken and in addition any roles agreed between the nurse and the doctors as appropriate, having regard to current training.
Job Responsibilities:
Professional:
1. Offer a holistic approach to travel health by providing comprehensive advice to patients prior to travel including vaccinations and medicines, safe sex, food hygiene, sun protection.
2. Offer advice about childhood and adult vaccinations and ensure vaccines are administered under patient group directions.
3. Running well person clinics and health promotion programmes by providing a holistic assessment and lifestyle advice on diet, smoking, alcohol intake and exercise. Facilitates change.
4. Assessing problems presented opportunistically by patients.
5. Able to document Consultations according to NMC guidelines.
6. To lead and support all staff in managing chronic diseases and achieving QOF and IIF.
7. Ensures awareness of statutory and local clinical protection procedures, including systems of referral. Ability to recognize signs and symptoms of child abuse.
8. Perform a holistic assessment of patients attending for cervical cytology smear tests.
9. Perform venepuncture according to local guidelines.
10. Provide a holistic approach to wound management and implement wound care in line with current evidence-based guidelines.
11. Suture removal.
12. Take ECGs.
13. Able to recognize and manage anaphylaxis according to current UK guidelines.
14. Able to perform Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation according to current UK guidelines.
15. Assist in the provision of minor surgery.
16. Ability to obtain and document informed consent (either verbal or written).
17. Ensure infection control guidelines are maintained.
18. Ability to monitor and manage maintenance of stock and equipment to include refrigeration, sterilizer and emergency equipment.
19. Confidentially of information gained at work must be preserved at all times.
20. Able to work on both surgery sites in Blackburn and Darwen.
Managerial:
1. Contribute to the assessment of service needs.
2. Assist patients to identify their health needs.
3. Contribute a nursing perspective to the Practice development plan.
4. Manage and organise individual patient consultations.
5. Aware of identification and reporting procedures related to professional standards.
6. To attend staff meetings.
7. Ensure effective relationships and communications with the PHCT and other agencies.
8. Support the Practice clinical governance agenda.
9. Identify changes to clinical practice that are required to implement evidence-based guidelines.

1. Identify personal development and training needs in conjunction with the manager.

* Previous experience of Primary Care

* Full registration with NMC
