Job summary Band 7 1.0 WTE 4 days 8am-6pm flexible days to meet the needs of the department This is an exciting opportunity to develop a new post as a Clinical Practice Educator. This is a clinical role and the successful candidate will deliver on-the-job training within the department and support education needs. You must be highly motivated, able to influence others, be empathetic and have in depth knowledge of cardiac physiology training pathways. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills to work autonomously and act as a positive role model within the department. You will be an experienced Cardiac Physiologist with a passion for training and supporting others. This role may suit an existing Band 7 or a highly motivated and skilled Band 6 seeking the next level. Applicants must be a qualified Cardiac Physiologist/Clinical Scientist and hold appropriate qualifications (such as STP or BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent). RCCP/ AHCS/ HCPC registration is essential. If not held already, STP or Clinical Scientist Equivalence is expected to be achieved this within 12months of appointment. Main duties of the job This is a clinical role and the post holder will practice independently to perform & report on clinical investigations to 6week diagnostic targets. Work closely with the Training co-ordinator to deliver training of all staff within Cardiac Physiology with a particular focus on training students. Facilitate & deliver clinical training in line with individual training plans and according to academic course criteria and department needs. Perform clinical competency assessments relevant to training scheme. Including upskilling of substantive staff with direct observation of practice (DOPS) and assessments. To ensure that accurate records are maintained and accessible to senior management. Promote and monitor the use of SOPs, DOPS and QA processes. Adapts training style to suit individual learners needs and recognises the limits of own skill-set. Engage in regular meetings with relevant personnel to deliver training as a collaborative approach. Attend regional/ network meetings as appropriate and feedback. Prepare training materials and group educational events to facilitate cardiac physiology training. This may be at departmental level, trust wide or external. To balance department training resources against clinical service delivery in liaison with the Service Lead and Consultant Clinical Scientist. To adjust training plans accordingly and ensure all parties are informed of changes.
