As an organisation, we recognise the value of a healthy work-life balance. When applying, speak to us about how we might be able to accommodate flexible working, so your work life fits around your home life.
We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates as they are under-represented within the Trust.
We seek to appoint 2 full-time cardiology interventional fellows for 1 year. The role will expose you to the full range of coronary intervention at the Bristol Heart Institute, the regional centre for the Southwest. Our unit has one of the largest volume and highest quality complex PCI programmes in the UK and recognition for excellence in intravascular imaging (both OCT and IVUS), both services being delivered by national and internationally regarded trainers.
We would welcome applications from candidates who have completed their SpR interventional cardiology training and are about to start looking for consultant grade positions (or equivalent). This post could also have an on-call commitment at a 1 in 20 frequency if required by the department at the time of appointment. This will be confirmed at the time of interview/appointment into the role. If this isn’t required, it may be requested that vacant on-call shifts are booked into on an optional and ad hoc basis, and these will be paid at the Trust agreed additional payment rates.
The contract will be held with the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS FT.
Main duties of the job
The fellow can expect to perform around 200-300 first operator cases per year and develop high-level skills in adjunctive PCI tools such as IVUS, OCT, rotational atherectomy and lithoplasty as well as CTO PCI (AWE, ADR and retrograde). We have an active Impella programme. In addition to excellent clinical and procedural training, all fellows are expected to participate in departmental research and educational programmes, present at national and international conferences, and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
