Job overview
Band 6 Team Leader Urology & Gynae
* Lead specialist team in designated clinical area delivering optimal patient care and providing a high quality service for the multi professional team.
* Act as coordinator for the department.

Main duties of the job
Responsible for designated specialist areas under the supervision of Theatre Service Manager, its caseload or client group, managing effective use of resources and staff members to provide a 24hr service.
Co-ordinate and monitor the theatres, staff and specialities to maintain effective and efficient multidisciplinary teamworking, ensuring control mechanisms are in place to create safe working practices within Trust policies.
Support Theatre Service Manager to deliver services within designated specialities, considering financial constraints, to deliver safe, efficient care. Support Theatre Manager with achieving financial savings identified through the “Cost Improvement Process”. Authorised signatory for staff time sheets, including bank and agency staff.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse or ODP
* Practice Based Teaching Qualification
* Educated to Diploma level
* Qualification relevant to the specialist area of practice
* Management course
Previous Experience
* Experience of leading or contributing to the management of the operating department team
* Knowledge of the technical aspects of the modern operating department
* Experience at Grade E or MTO 2 equivalent
* Knowledge of Health and Safety, Control of Infection and Moving and Handling policies
* Must be able to provide assistance to the theatre users in a variety of clinical situations including routine emergency and trauma work using specialist knowledge
* Evidence of professional development relevant to the specialist area of practice
* Forward planning and organisational skills
* Must have the interpersonal skills to work effectively as a member of the multi-professional team and communicate within the organisation as required
* Ability to anticipate the needs of the service
* Problem solving and using a common sense approach
* Maintaining a professional and positive regard to patients and colleagues at all times

* Shows evidence of commitment to the development and support of all members of the multi-professional operating department team
